We do! Please reach out to us via our private tour page. We offer a sliding scale for private tours, and will reach out to discuss rates after you fill out the contact form.
We do! We've worked with grade levels from middle school up through college, as well as GSAs. We’re happy to adjust the tour to meet your curriculum, just reach out via the private tours page.
We are not looking for new CFC members, but we are always looking to work with new community partners! Potential projects could include queer public history events (like our Love Letters reading series), queer history zines, even the development of a new walking tour. Send us an email at closefriendscollective@gmail.com.
Our public tours of the Lower East Side and East Village include wheelchair accessible routes of between 1 and 1.5 miles, along New York City sidewalks. Both tours begin at locations with accessible restrooms, and the LES tour ends at one as well. Feel free to email us if you need more information at closefriendscollective@gmail.com.
You may bring your dog as long as the dog stays on a leash. Please try to be aware of other visitors to make sure your dog doesn't interrupt anyone else's experience of the tour. If another visitor objects, your dog will not be permitted on the tour.
If it is pouring rain two hours prior to the tour and the weather prediction is that it will continue for the next four hours or so, we will cancel the tour and email the group. In the event of canceling the tour, we will offer a comp ticket for any future date. If you absolutely cannot make it to a future date (for example if you do not live in NYC), we will offer a refund.
If light rain is predicted, we will move forward with the tour. We cannot provide refunds or comp tickets if you cancel in this case.
In the case of sudden torrential downpour or comparable weather, the tour leaders can decide whether or not to stop mid-tour. If this happens, we will offer a comp ticket for a future date.
If the National Weather Service predicts a temperature of at least 90 degrees at the start of the tour, or a heat index of 95 or above, we will cancel the tour and email the group. This decision will be made the prior evening for 11am tours and at 9am for afternoon/evening tours. In the event of canceling the tour, we will offer a comp ticket for any future date. If you absolutely cannot make it to a future date (for example if you do not live in NYC), we will offer a refund.
We can provide a refund if requested 48 hours prior to the start of the tour. (This gives us enough time to invite someone from the waitlist.) If you cannot attend due to sickness, we can offer a comp ticket for a future tour.
